PUXANO Graphene Grids

PUXANO is a pioneer in graphene grid and protocol development. Produced in our state-of-the-art cleanroom, these grids are part of our broader novel grid technology initiatives. Since 2021, our graphene grids have been a standard component of cryoEM screening, alongside traditional carbon and metallic grids, and they are now widely adopted by major pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic centers in Europe and the US.

We’ve perfected the graphene transfer process, enabling the production of large batches of single-layer graphene grids with >90% coverage and minimal contamination. Our graphene monolayers can be transferred onto any grid type, hole size, or framework, offering unmatched versatility. Furthermore, we have developed several protocols to functionalize graphene surfaces with specific protein capturing agents, leading to graphene based affinity grids.

Why choose graphene grids?

Graphene grids solve most major problems in cryoEM sample preparation. Because proteins are attracted to the graphene monolayer surface, they are withdrawn from the air-water interface that create problems such as preferred particle orientation, protein complex disassembly or protein denaturation. Graphene grids therefore resolves these types of problems.

Furthermore, the graphene concentrates proteins to its surface, which leads to the advantage of using 10-100x lower protein concentrations. Finally, the presence of the layer also reduces beam-induced motion, which is beneficial for studying smaller sub-75kDa proteins and obtaining high resolution protein structures (sub 2 angstrom).

How to use graphene grids?

When you purchase grids from us, you’ll receive a detailed protocol with instructions for glow-discharging, plunge freezing and storage. Our team will assist you in case of any further questions.

How to order PUXANO graphene grids?

Pricing and orders for the standard grids can be requested via email or through distributors (MiTeGen). Delivery time is 2–4 weeks after purchase order receipt.

The graphene grids are packaged under inert gas in an aluminum bag comprising a grid box of 20 grids.

If you want us to deposit graphene onto your grid, please also send us an email.
